Leonia's governing body has been studying and evaluating potential options for a new municipal building (on the site of the old Ambulance Corps in Wood Park) for the Police Department and the Court. The single largest outstanding question is whether we will build an additional floor in the new building to accommodate borough hall administrative functions or renovate the existing borough hall. Both options have pros/cons. The information presented here will help you get an idea for the tools we have used to help us with the evaluation of alternatives and what will ultimately guide the Mayor and Council to making the best decision for Leonia.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this information and, if you are interested, come to the Mayor and Council meeting on September 16. There will be two public portions to express your views or ask a question. One at the beginning of the regular meeting and one at the end.
The meeting on September 16th will be in the library basement beginning at 7:30 pm
This page has been created to provide the public with easy access to information, resources, and opportunities for public meetings on the project.

The analysis below is to help us determine whether the new Police Department and Court building proposed for the current site of the police department parking lot/old Ambulance Corps building should have an additional floor to contain the administrative functions of Borough Hall. This would free up the existing Borough Hall to be sold but would also require monies to build a third floor. Because the existing Borough Hall is an iconic building with historic significance even if it is sold, there are certain historic protections which will protect the building facade in perpetuity. Please read the Facilities Committee's attachment thoroughly to best understand the potential trade-offs associated with each option and how this cost/value analysis will aid an objective decision:
