The Borough of Leonia Mayor and Council have scheduled two budget meetings to be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 and Saturday, December 14, 2019. Both meetings will begin at 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and both will be held at the Leonia Library, located at 227 Ft. Lee Road, Leonia, NJ.

"Eligible homeowners are receiving their 2016 Homestead Benefit property tax relief in two payments this year. Most eligible homeowners received the first half of the benefit as a credit on their second-quarter property tax bill, or by check, around May 1, 2019. If you received a benefit earlier this year, you can expect the second half of the benefit as a credit or check on or about November 1, 2019. The amount of your second credit or check should equal the amount you initially received. You do not need to reapply or take any action to receive the additional payment. Councilman Ben Choi has resigned from the Leonia Borough Council in order to accept a judicial appointment, resulting in a vacancy on the Leonia Borough Council.
The July 1st meeting of the Mayor and Council has been moved to July 15
With grant assistance from Sustainable Jersey and Gardinier Environmental Fund, the Borough of Leonia was able to put in service a fully electric Chevy Bolt for various police and Borough fleet purposes.
As of March 27th, all Mayor and Council (and Planning Board) meetings will be held in the basement Meeting Room of the Leonia Public Library, located at 227 Fort Lee Road.

Due to heavy flooding, Willowtree Road is closed at Schor Avenue. Students will be allowed to exit the High School via Ray Avenue. Parents picking up children will need to use Ray Avenue. An officer will be stationed at Ray Avenue and Grand Avenue to assist with traffic at the end of the school day.
Mayor Zeigler: “We disagree with the way the judge chose to rule…but are very pleased that he has affirmed Leonia’s right to regulate our streets, in order to ensure the safety of our residents.”
